Trials, Trials, Trials: The pandemic has forced many court appearances to be remote on Zoom or similar web-based programs. But the pandemic did not stop David J. Cohen, Esq. and Alex P. Guilmartin, Esq. from completing, during the height of the pandemic, one of the longest, most expensive, most complex and most serious murder trials in the history of Contra Costa County. 2021 is expected to be a year of slowly returning to “normal” in the courts. Many trials have been postponed, but it is expected that in the first quarter, Bay Area Criminal Lawyers, PC will commence a life-top sex offender matter in the County of Santa Clara, and several other serious trials (fraud, weapons, three strikes, involuntary manslaughter) in the Counties of Alameda and San Mateo. Federal trials in a criminal trust bid-rigging case and in a federal weapons possession case are expected to commence in the second quarter. Another special circumstances murder trial is scheduled to commence in the County of Santa Cruz in the first or second quarter of 2021.
