Juneteenth
Bay Area Criminal Lawyers, PC is pleased to announce that we have added Juneteenth permanently as a paid holiday beginning this year. Juneteenth commemorates when Union Army General Granger announced in Texas the end of slavery on June 19, 1865. Enslaved people in Texas were the last in the nation to be informed that slavery had ended, nearly 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
This year June 19th fell on a Saturday and therefore we gave Friday, June 18 2021 off to our team. As Juneteenth is not only recognized as a day of celebration, but also a day of reflection, assessment, and self-improvement, we encouraged our team to utilize this day off to volunteer, particularly with programs that serve BIPOC (Black and Indigenous People of Color) communities.
The team at Bay Area Criminal Lawyers, PC excitedly volunteered with St. Vincent De Paul of Alameda County to assist with meal preparation and service with the St. Vincent De Paul meal service. Our volunteers were able to prepare and serve approximately 575 meals. Thank you to our team members who took the time to use this day to reflect and serve the BIPOC community!
